We are the "Bellingen Bats"
The Bellingen Diggers Swimming Club was formed by Phil O'Brien (our first president) on 2nd December 1996. Here is an extract from the president's report 30th April 1997.
"... since that first night we have continued to grow. The response to this first season has been outstanding with 59 current financial members with an average of 30 swimmers attending each week."
"The highlight of the season being undoubtedly the attendance of 24 swimmers at the AIF carnival at Southport. There were many great individual performances culminating in an overall team 3rd placing."
Over the years many of the faces have changed but we are lucky enough to have a number of original members still involved with the club. The club continues to provide a fun and friendly environment for getting together and keeping fit. Even though we are a small club in a national sense we have enjoyed much success over the years and across age groups.
Our club is affiliated with AIF swimming (follow the link below for more information) and encourages current and past service personnel to get involved. You do not need to be an ex-service person to join our club, all swimmers of all abilities are most welcome.
